Utilities Group Adds Company, Moves in New Direction
V&S Schuler Utilities Group acquired Capital Steel Service LLC in Trenton, New Jersey, on January 5, expanding our operations and giving us a strong presence in the Northeast as the U.S. government invests heavily in upgrading and modernizing the electric grid.
Now known as V&S Capital Steel, the New Jersey company was a friendly competitor with which we collaborated on various projects over the years. With this acquisition, V&S Schuler Utilities Group now consists of four companies and five facilities.
“The addition of Capital Steel expands our footprint and provides additional capacity and capability,” V&S Schuler Utilities Managing Director Greg Shaheen said.
V&S Schuler Engineering Operations Manager George Cook served as the integration project lead on the acquisition. He credited multiple people at the local level and our parent company, Hill & Smith PLC, for their efforts.
“A special thank you goes to Hill & Smith Group President and Chief Operating Officer Hooman Javvi, Corporate Development Director Mark Kimak, and Finance Business Partner Jagdeep Kaur,” Cook said.
Group Now Operates as a Standalone Organization
In another recent development, effective January 1, V&S Schuler Utilities Group now operates as a standalone organization under Hill & Smith PLC. Previously, we were a branch of V&S Galvanizing. Hill & Smith made this organizational change based on V&S Schuler Utilities’ continued growth and success over the past few years.
With this change, Shaheen is now managing director of V&S Schuler Utilities; previously, his title was senior vice president. There are no changes to the leadership of any companies or day-to-day operations.
